Higher Learning in Ostene?

Hi everyone! I’ve got some questions about education in Ostene.

So, the Magnificent Caverns have no unified public school system if I understood properly, and parents personally undertake the task of educating their children in arts and sciences? They utilize the resources available through the extensive privately-funded museums, so there’s a sort of cultural average to it. I really like this sort of upbringing, but it leads me to wonder about the existence of higher education?

Is there any analogue to universities or other schools of higher learning? Do physicians or medical schools exist in any form?

Not really. Most of the time Ostenean children end up essentially inheriting the trades of their parents. There is, however, often opportunity to apprentice under individuals in trades other than ones parents (for a fee, of course) but there are no large universities in the nation.

It’s a nation of uber free trade capitalists that have yet to latch onto the idea of education as an industry mostly because there hasn’t been an entrepreneur who yet envisioned the amount of cash they can soak from people under the guise of giving them upward mobility and a higher understanding of the world around them. Also, Osteneans in general are very occupation focused and so the thought of delaying entering the workforce for an extended education (even if it was a focused program) would be a bit of a hard sell in the current/historical cultural climate.
