Hello, everyone! If you were around for Game Off, you’ve probably heard most of this information, but we wanted to share with you our 2020 Event Dates and roadmap for the future.
Winter Event: We do plan on having a Winter Event like we have the last two years, but its exact nature, location, and dates are TBD. We’ll have further information about that to you all (ideally) before the end of 2019. It will likely be a 1-day noncombat event, like last year’s.
2020 Event Dates:
E11: April 3-5
E12: May 15-17
E13: August 28-30
E14: October 9-12
You’ll notice that that E14 is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and is currently listed for 4 days. Let’s talk about that!
On the current trajectory of plot, Staff expects Divine Intervention to conclude sometime in Year 4, and most likely with Episode 14. As a result, we’ve scheduled that weekend as a potential finale. We still may change that based on things that happen between now and then (and will let you know if we do). We do know that not everyone gets that day off as a holiday (including quite a bit of staff), and that taking that day off might be prohibitively difficult for some; we’re trying to gauge that too.
At any rate: That’s the current plan. We weighed the impact letting people know this plan ahead of time would have on plot decisions, and decided that letting players know far enough ahead of time to logistically plan OOG outweighs the weight of that kind of surprise in-game. We’d said right along that Divine Intervention is a 3-5 year game based on player actions; we’d like to say that ending in Year 4 is not a punishment for in-game actions or anything like that, it’s simply where staff feels the current trajectory of plotlines (based on player action) is going to land for a satisfying conclusion.
As we nail down our exact plans, there’s a very strong chance we will accelerate certain things through Rulebook changes over the winter, such as XP-to-Build curves, Build Cap, and so on.
