Hey, there’s been a lot of chat about communication and communication platforms lately. Here’s where staff is at right now:
-
Staff will continue making official announcements with the forum as a base, linking there from other channels (like we’re doing right now). This has worked pretty well in catching people across multiple platforms.
-
We’ll also be asking that “official” questions to staff about lore and mechanics that affect more than just the individual asking be made on the Forums, where people can easily find them.
-
There’s still ongoing discussion about how to make the current primary form of player communication more accessible; If people want it, we’re willing to create additional Slack channels or Facebook groups for player chat. We do think cross-posting important things is a good idea. That said, please understand that Staff cannot be responsible for cross-posting stuff that isn’t staff-originated. We
you but DI already takes up an enormous amount of staff’s time and mental energy & adding that responsibility would not be healthy for any of us.
-
Ultimately, other than the above point about “official” questions Staff is not going to push people into or out of one format or another (or into/out of specific Slack channels, etc), especially for discussions that do not directly involve staff. We do ask that players try to be mindful of other players and mindful of the fact that there is no communication platform in existence that will be equally beneficial to everyone - So if you’re talking about something you personally think is important, please consider its accessibility and how you can open that information up to others. Staff will continue to do the same in our communications.
